The Textiles

The coats and jackets are made from a variety of antique and vintage textiles. Some are over 150 years old, with great patina and often signs of age. Some of a newer vintage but all with something that has appealed to me.

All have had a life before.

A bytamarafogle coat is of simple pared-back design, in order to make the textile the star.

Prices of each garment will reflect either the rarity, age or quality of the textile it is made from. Some of the older antique textiles will show signs of wear, and marks and worn areas might be visible in places. This is to be expected, even desired in some cases, and considered part of the history and appeal of the fabric.

American, French and British Patchwork Quilts. Linen Hungarian Grain Sacks. Woven wool Romanian wall hangings. Antique German flour sacks with beautiful typography. Toile and floral quilts. Japanese Boro. Vietnamese embroideries. African Indigos. Just a selection of materials I have in my collections.
