American 1920's Churn Dash Quilt Coat
American 1920's Churn Dash Quilt Coat
Made with a Vintage American Patchwork quilt in the 'Churn Dash' pattern, dating from the 1920's in blue/cream/black graphic florals and stripes, with a cobalt blue lining.
The Churn Dash block pattern originated in the 1800's, and it represents the humble butter churn, looking down from above. These classic blocks are indicative of early pioneer life and some of their utilitarian home items.
Mid weight batting (padding) with a lovely drape, and beautiful hand quilting. There are a few faint marks on the quilt (see photos), also what looks like a black ink mark on the inside of the back panel (see photo).
Shawl collar design with Patch pockets and high side slits. Trimmed with 100% cotton black binding to match the graphic quality of the prints.
